Just heard from Warren's mailing list - Rory Root is in a coma following an extensive hernia operation.

Many of you here don't know Rory, but he's a hell of a guy, a hell of a retailer and one of the first people in the US to stock my books. He's a mainstay of every San Diego Comic Con, sitting on his stool at the entrance to his booth, chatting to old and new friends and customers alike.

If ever the power of positive thought needed to be proven, it's now.

SHIT indeed. Rory's a great guy.

At one point when I was mental enough to be seriously considering opening a comics store he spent a couple of hours of his valuable time at SDCC going over my business plan, and giving me great advice on the realities of life as a comics retailer.

Positive waves will be sent his way...

It was an extensive surgery for a ruptured hernia.

He went into a coma and never woke up.
